Enlightenment Defended
Politics • Spirituality/Belief • Culture
Enlightenment Defended will repel the dark nihilism of “post-truth”, woke culture, identity politics, and political correctness. It will catalyse the bright flame of the enlightenment —liberty, reason and progress.

Enlightenment Defended will create an open realm of vigorous philosophical debate through animation, documentaries, poetry, humour, music and myth. People are many-sided in both apprehension and enjoyment.

Shining a Light on Containment: Introduction to US Foreign Policy.

This is the first of several vidcasts on American foreign policy and how that impinges on the question of enlightenment. The following vidcasts will cover Russia and China. Key questions will be can the USA export its liberal/democratic vision, the extent to which the USA's role as a global policeman has to be curtailed, and the extent to which the foreign policy of containment may be pursued without retarding the advancement of the enlightenment.

This analysis of the current constraints of a politicised world should set the stage for later, deeper conversations about the necessity and desirability of the nation-state system.

The fall of Kabul to forces of dark-age culture, highlights the importance of understanding US foreign policy.

Libertarians and those who defend enlightenment may fail to use this opportunity correctly.

The key is to link particular events such as this abismal state failure and their analysis to the long-term and more more abstract goals of libertarian and enlightenment thought. It’s so easy to be swept up in the maelstrom of transient politics and it’s eye-catching headlines of indignant personal blame. Outrage at the system, not the person. The system can always throw Bidens or Nixons under the wheels. New administration; same as the old administration! Bring the fall of Kabul within the explanatory grasp of enlightenment theory.

Do we really suppose that this type of organisation -the state-, with all its inefficiencies and moral corruption, will be a necessary feature of humanity in the distant future? A hundred years from now? A thousand years from now? I suspect not. But in order to tame the beast, one needs to understand the beast.
